Kearny Portion of The Greenway - NEW STATE PARK

When will the state park be completed by?

The new state park (The Essex-Hudson Greenway) will take approximately ten years to complete according to the state. The Essex (Newark) and Hudson (Kearny) side will be part of the first phase of the project and will be completed first. The connection bridge (WR Drawbridge) crossing the Passaic River connecting Essex and Hudson County is the last phase of the construction.

Quick Q&A Town Wide Parking Issues

TOWN WIDE PARKING PROBLEMS

Parking problems exist all over town.  What can be done to alleviate the parking problem.

The parking problem in town is not an easy one to solve. The Town has taken steps to begin searching for resolutions however I don’t believe Town wide parking permits is the answer. I believe these types of decisions should put up to vote on the ballot and not made by 9 elected officials.  Just some of the problems I believe should be addressed to help correct the parking issue is over-development. Town allowing older properties containing one family homes to be torn down and place two- 2 family homes is just the beginning of the problem. Not requiring the proper parking spaces to accommodate these additional apartments and in conjunction with illegal apartments, its creating a quality of life issue for all residents in town.

For many years the past administration has given an opportunity of illegal apartments to become legal.  One family that were converted to two family, and two family that were converted to three, or four family property.  These past government practices have been going on for more than fifteen years, and now we are seeing the results of parking problems from these relaxed business practices.
